The yoke can be quilted, embellished with embroidery or boutis techniques. Battenberg lace, shadow embroidery or shadow applique, reverse applique, Madeira applique, sashiko quilting, piping and many other techniques or with as much lace as you like. If you are adventurous, you might try it in batise without the smocking or the long sleeves! Three smocking designs are included with the pattern. This nightgown was designed keeping in mind how sensitive women's skin can be following open-heart surgery or a mastectomy.
